Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) was born "Fryderyk" but with his adult life spent in Paris, France, he changed the spelling to "Frederic." He was homeschooled to age 13, but then got his degree from Warsaw Conservatory. He never married but had a romantic involvement with the famed french female author, George Sand. Afflicted with TB, he died at age 39. 230 of his works remain today, the more famous of which are the "Minute Waltz," the "Viennese Waltz," the "Fantaisie-Impromptu," and the "Polonaise in A Flat." Many popular songs of our day utilize melodies originated by Chopiin.
