Lindley's Note -  For junior high and high school, make sure you get a microscope that will prepare your student for college-level labs.  Although there are inexpensive versions at the local "Marts",  these do not have the specs required for most high school labs, let alone college-level courses.  Keep your scope in good shape and it will retain its value.  After all three of our students graduated, we even loaned ours out to another family.   It is a worth-while investment.
