Kumon My Book of Number Games 1-70 -- Use this book to introduce your child to basic math skills, especially recognizing and reciting numbers from 1 to 70.The connect-the-dots exercises on the odd-numbered pages of the book provide children with opportunities to become familiar with the concept of ordinal numbers while enjoying the "guess who's hiding" games. The color-by-number exercises on the even-numbered pages are designed to enhance number recognition. These two abilities are crucial for creating the basis for addition and subtraction skills and beyond. Ages 3-5.

Miquon Math Labsheet Annotations -- Our experience with early math has been a good one, particularly due to the fact we were introduced to this fun, visual way at the very beginning. We all do our math at the same time, including the baby. With the rods spread out all over the table, he built trains and forts and was kept very busy while the other two worked in the books. The early playing is encouraged because that way the children are already familiarizing themselves with the colors, shapes, equalities and inequalities of the rods. There are many systems that match the Cuisenaire rods, but our favorite is Miquon. There are 6 workbooks that cover approximately grades 1 - 3. You will need a set of rods, the minimum required would be the Introductory Set, but we recommend the Group Set. There's enough in there to build loads of good stuff, and if you 're teaching more than one child at a time, it 's necessary. The workbooks are not marked by grade levels, only colors, and are listed below in sequential order: Orange Red Blue Green Yellow Purple This book, Miquon Math Labsheet Annotations, is the most important book of all. It includes many of the answers and variations as well as pictures of the Miquon Workbooks work pages. It covers all six workbooks! After completing all six, your child should easily be ready for 4th grade math. When our oldest completed Miquon, Saxon 54 was a very appropriate next step.

One Hundred Sheep Skip Counting CD -- We all know how to count by 2, 5, and 10, but learning to count by 3, 4, etc is important. This skill, known as skip counting, is used in every math process from multiplication to algebra. Using stories from the Gospels as a basis for the lyrics, these original songs teach and reinforce skip counting for 2 -10. Oral assessments are built into the program. (112 Lessons) This kit comes with a teachers manual (approx. 500 pages) and a meeting book. A very important part of this system is the manipulatives kit. The manipulatives kit is sold separately and although all items in the kit are not used every year (grades K-4), only 1 kit is necessary for the 4 years.
